Chris’s website was painfully slow on a phone. People don’t wait long for a page, a few seconds at most, and then they go back to the search results. Fixing speed used to mean hiring someone who knew where to look. Now it starts with three questions.
The three prompts
Give it your website’s address first, then ask, one at a time:
The third one is the point. Not “fix it for me”: show me how, so next time you know where to look.
Give it real numbers
An AI that can browse will open your site, but it can’t feel how slow it is on a phone. Measure first:
- Open PageSpeed Insights, Google’s free speed test, and put in your address.
- Look at the Mobile result, not Desktop.
- Copy the whole report, or take screenshots of it, and paste it in with the first prompt.
Then the AI is explaining your own measurements rather than guessing. Run the test again after each change: if the number didn’t move, the change didn’t matter.
What it usually finds
On a small business site, it is nearly always one of these:
- Huge photos. A 4000-pixel photo shown 400 pixels wide on a phone.
- Too much loading at once. Chat widgets, trackers and embedded videos all starting before the page does.
- Too many fonts. Every weight and style is another download.
- A slow host or a heavy theme. Sometimes the honest answer is that the platform is the problem.
Ask it to explain each finding in plain words before you change anything. Some changes are a setting in your website builder; some need a developer. It will tell you which, if you ask:

Make a backup, or know how to undo it. Change one thing at a time, and measure after each. And if the AI suggests deleting something, ask what it does first.
